Thermal Characterisation Facility

TMA  is   the   oldest   thermal   analysis   technique.  A  probe   is   used   to   apply   a   precisely controlled force to a sample and deformation is accurately measured.

The technique is mostly used for determining CTE (co-efficient of thermal expansion) and softening temperature.

Important Note: TMA is likely to be discontinued during 2025.

Contact the Facility Manager for details.

Applications

  • Thermal expansion (CTE) measurements
  • Compression modulus
  • Dynamic force & temperature option
  • Bending mode
  • Glass transition
  • Solid state transitions
  • Polymers, Composites
